Tokyo will be Bekzod’s second Olympic Games. Following his graduation from Clarion, he served for several seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Harvard University alongside his brother, Muzaffar. At the 2016 Rio Games, Bekzhod advanced to the bronze-medal match by defeating former gold medalist Jordan Burroughs of the USA, but was beaten by Jabrayil Hasanov of Azerbaijan. Bekzod also competes in mixed martial arts. His middle name is “Makhamadzhonovich.”

Bekzod secured the bronze medal for Uzbekistan in men’s freestyle 74kg wrestling at the Tokyo Games.
