Paralympic 1500m gold medalist 2016, two-time world champion (2015, 2017), 800m world champion 2017, 1500m world record holder (3:45.50, set in 2017), 5000m world record holder (14:09.51, set in 2017), 2017 Team USA Male Paralympic Athlete of the Year.
Tokyo will be Michael’s second Paralympic Games (2016 Rio, 2020 Tokyo). Universally known as “Mikey,” he began running at age eight through the Rolling Thunder Special Needs Program in Shirley, NY. He attended Northport High School. In 2016, he ran one mile in 3:57.58, becoming the first runner with autism to run a sub-four minute mile.
Mikey finished 4th in the T20 1500m at the Tokyo Games, with a season’s best time of 3:58.43.
