US champion 2019, winner 2015 NCAA Division I Championships, silver medalist 2016 NCAA Championships, three-time champion Ivy League Heptagonal Championships (2015, 2014, 2013). Eleventh place finish 2019 World Championships. Third place US Olympic Trials 2021.

Tokyo will be Sam’s first Olympic Games. He was born in New York City and began throwing the discus at East Brunswick High School. Following graduation from UPenn, he has worked in several technology and sports performance start-ups and has assistant coached at Rutgers University.

Sam finished 8^th overall in the men’s discus at the Tokyo Games, with a mark of 63.88m/209’ 7”.
