Fifth place 2019 ITU World Triathlon Series overall ranking. Four-time ITU World Triathlon Series medalist. Thirteen-time ITU Triathlon World Cup medalist, including eight gold medals.

Summer was an NCAA Division I runner and swimmer at Villanova University. She became involved in triathlon through the USAT Collegiate Recruitment Program. Tokyo will be her first Olympic Games.

Summer finished 14^th overall in the women’s triathlon at the Tokyo Games, with a time of 2:00:19.
